Overview

Gibson Dunn’s Riyadh office marks the next step in developing the firm’s market-leading presence in the Middle East.

Based in King Abdullah Financial District, our Riyadh-based team has extensive experience advising clients on regulatory and legislative matters, administrative law and public policy, corporate and capital markets transactions, all aspects of financing (including project, Islamic (including sukuk issuances) and structured financings, and financial restructurings), international arbitration, and dispute resolution. Our team is particularly well-known for its expertise in handling sophisticated legislative drafting and public policy formulation projects and has advised on key projects contributing to Vision 2030.

Our team in Saudi Arabia practices English, New York, and Saudi law, and our clients include sovereign entities (including sovereign wealth funds), large corporations and multinational companies, private equity firms, family offices, investment houses, and financial institutions.

Our team combines its market-leading experience in Saudi Arabia with the experience of Megren M. Al-Shaalan in his former position as Senior Legal Advisor and the Secretary General of the National Committee for Law Development at the Royal Court and currently as the Chairman of the Regulations Committee at the Royal Commission for Al-Ula.

Our clients include numerous key Government Ministries and Departments, including the Royal Court, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Strategic Management Office, the Ministry of Industry and Mining, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Finance. We have a strong understanding of the Vision 2030 ecosystem and the various programs and strategies related thereto, including the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) and the National Industrial Strategy.

We are also profoundly committed to Saudization and are actively engaging in a local development strategy, including a recruitment drive to hire more Saudi nationals for permanent legal and non-legal positions.
