Xuanyi Liu is an associate in the Singapore office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Funds Practice Group.
He advises sponsors on the formation, structuring and management of private funds, including private equity, growth equity, venture capital, real estate, credit and digital asset funds, as well as bespoke products such as clubs and consortiums, separate accounts, platforms and co-investment vehicles.
Xuanyi has extensive experience advising sponsors and lead investors on cutting-edge liquidity solutions. He regularly advises on the full range of secondaries transactions, including GP-led secondaries such as continuation funds, preferred equity and NAV financings, stapled secondaries, as well as traditional and synthetic LP portfolio sales and purchases.
As part of his fund transactions practice, Xuanyi regularly counsels sponsors on matters such as fund management joint ventures, GP stake sales, team spinouts, upper-tier structuring, carried interest plans and regulatory matters.
Before relocating to Gibson Dunn’s Singapore office, Xuanyi was based in the firm’s Hong Kong office and prior to that was an investment funds and secondaries lawyer in another global law firm.
He received his Bachelor of Laws (summa cum laude) and Bachelor of Business Management (summa cum laude) from the Singapore Management University, where he was a member of the Dean’s List and Beta Gamma Sigma.
Xuanyi is admitted to practice in Singapore. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
