Mitasha Chandok

Associate Attorney

Mitasha Chandok is an experienced corporate associate in the London office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She is a member of the firm’s Oil and Gas, Energy and Infrastructure, Power and Renewables, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity practice groups and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practice.

Mitasha's experience includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development and financing, and corporate advisory work. She routinely advises clients in the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors. Mitasha is also actively involved in advising on energy transition matters and ESG advisory matters for energy and non-energy clients.

She has worked in mature and emerging markets (nearly 50 jurisdictions) and has advised extensively across Asia and Africa on a number of transactions and projects (including first entries).

Mitasha is recognised by the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom as a ‘Leading Lawyer‘ for Energy and Natural Resources Law. Mitasha has consistently been ranked as an ‘Associate to Watch’ by Chambers UK 2024 for Energy & Natural Resources: Oil & Gas, in which clients have noted that “Mitasha has delivered great client service and is very mindful of the commercial aspects of matters” and previously that “she is very analytical and thinks in practical terms to solve business and legal issues that come up”. Mitasha has also consistently been recognised as a ‘Rising Star by Legal 500 UK 2024 for Projects Energy and Natural Resources: Oil & Gas. She is highly regarded for handling cross-border transactions as also for joint ventures and project development.

Mitasha is an executive committee member of Gibson Dunn’s London Office Diversity, Talent and Inclusion Committee, where she chairs the gender sub-group and co-chairs the multicultural forum.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mitasha trained and practised in the London office of a major international law firm, where she completed secondments to the firm’s Hong Kong office and to the London office of Tullow Oil plc, where she advised on the development of the crude oil export pipeline in Kenya.

Mitasha holds a certificate in Sustainable Capitalism & ESG from Berkeley Law Executive Education.

She graduated from the National Law School of India University with a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.). Mitasha served as a law clerk to Justice R.V. Raveendran of the Supreme Court of India in 2007.

Selected recent experience includes:

  • Marathon Oil on the disposal of its entire UK North Sea oil and gas portfolio to RockRose Energy plc.
  • Murphy Oil in connection with the US$2.127 billion sale of its participating interests in the Block K, Block H, SK 309, SK 311, SK 314A and SK 405B PSCs (Malaysia) to PTT Exploration and Production Company (PTTEP).
  • Jadestone Energy in connection with the acquisition of a 90% participating interest in the Lemang PSC in Indonesia from Mandala Energy.
  • Mozambique LNG, whose sponsors include Total, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., PTTEP, ONGC Videsh, Bharat PetroResources, Oil India and ENH, on a long term LNG sale and purchase agreement for the sale of 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG to PT Pertamina (Persero).
  • Advising numerous clients on ESG corporate advisory matters and carbon reporting requirements.
