Addison Bennett is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He practices in the firm’s Appellate and Constitutional Law Practice Group.
Addison has represented clients in appeals and other stages of litigation before the Supreme Court of the United States, federal courts of appeals, federal district courts, state courts, and administrative agencies. He has successfully petitioned for certiorari and represented clients in the Supreme Court on the merits in cases involving business reorganizations and employment disputes. He has participated in appeals and other litigation covering a wide range of topics, including constitutional law, business reorganizations, law firm defense, municipal reorganizations, consumer protection, class actions, and judgment enforcement.
Addison also maintains an active pro bono practice. He has represented clients in courts across the country on matters involving immigration, criminal law and habeas corpus, social security, civil rights, and the First Amendment.
Before joining Gibson Dunn, Addison served as a law clerk for Judge Andrew D. Hurwitz on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
He earned his law degree with high honors from the University of Chicago, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as a Comments Editor on the University of Chicago Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree in Government summa cum laude from Skidmore College as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Addison is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the District of Columbia, as well as The Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Seventh, and Ninth Circuits, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
